Christian Schenk

 

Education and Professional Experience

Christian Graduated from the Aquinas Institute of Rochester in 1996. While at Aquinas, he trained as an ABA therapist under Steven Michalski of the Redwood Learning Center in New Jersey. He worked with several young students in the Rochester area before moving to Boston in the fall of 1996.

While in Boston, Christian attended classes at Berklee College of Music, performed throughout New England and continued working as an ABA therapistacross the river in Cambridge. At Berklee, he had the opportunity to study with many great bassists and teachers such as Jim Stinnett, Bruce Gertz, Christian McBride, Victor Wooten and Oteil Burbridge to name a few. In 1999 he recieved his Bachelors in Music with a concentration in Performance, Composition and Education. 

After college, he began to work professionally as a bass player in the Rochester area. He has performed, toured and recorded with many acts such as: John Lardieri, Stealing Andy and the Tripping Billies - Dave Matthews Tribute. He currently performs in and around Rochester with Amanda Montone and Uptown Groove.

Since opening MEC in 2004, Christian has had the opportunity to assemble and work with an amazing staff. Together, they continue to refine the educational systems used at MEC. He has taught hundereds of students achieve things that their families and teachers never believed possible. He hopes to turn the MEC name and reputation into a quality product that will bring musical joy to the lives of students around the world.

Family

A father of three and the younger of two boys fittingly describe Christian's family structure. He has been Married to Nova Schenk since May 24, 2003 and they have three children - Quinlan, Vega and Kaplan. All three are already showing musical prowess in some way or another. Quinlan, who was diagnosed with Austism Spectrum Disorder in 2007, can remember and sing anything he hears. Vega, who is a student of Sean Conlon, performed in her first recital in December 2009 and continues to study Music and Dance. She says that when she starts Kindergarten in 2 years that she would like to paint as well. Kaplan will turn 2 this May and we will see what she has to say once she starts saying...
