Sean Conlon
Education and Professional Experience
Sean Conlon graduated from Spencerport High School in 2003. While in high school, he studied Bass with the late Bob Stata, brass with Mark Hull, and jazz with John Viavattine. From 2003 to 2007, Sean attended the Crane School of Music @ SUNY Potsdam where he performed with the Crane Wind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Band and several other groups. Sean had the opportunity to study with several incredible professors such as Dr. Charles Guy, Bret Zvacek, and Dr. Paul Siskind.
Throughout college, Sean returned to the Rochester Area over breaks, working for BOCES 2 as a teacher's aide and behavioral assistant. He student taught at elementary and secondary levels at the Solvay School District before receiving his Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a concentration in tuba in 2007.
After college, Sean took a long-term substitute position at the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill school district in Central NY. While there, Sean handled the districts woodwind and brass lessons, as well as teaching Music Theory. Returning home to Rochester, Sean began playing bass professionally with several groups around Rochester. Sean has had the honor of opening for national acts such as Average White Band, Little Feat, Cabo Frio, Sonny Landreth, the Subdudes and The Campbell Brothers.
He is currently performing with the Brockport Big Band.
Sean has been working at MEC since April 2009, and couldn't be happier. He is extremely proud to be able to share the gift of music with his students, and equally proud to be working with the dedicated staff at MEC.
Family
Sean is the son of a drummer/engineer and a librarian. He occasionally makes trips out to Cambridge, Massachusetts to visit his younger brother, who attends school in the area. Sean also enjoys hanging out with his dog, Johnny Cash.
